A Day Trip to A’famosa and Melaka
A total of 48 students and six staff members of ELS Language Centre discovered both the historical and modern sides of Melaka in an activities-filled day trip on 7 March 2009.
After a smooth journey from KL, they arrived at their first destination at 11am - the A’famosa Water World. After registration, the students set out to discover the various facilities at the water theme park. Most of them enjoyed the family water slide, tubing slide, and the high speed and big waves at the lagoon. They also took time to relax at the sandy beach, which had coconut trees planted in front of the lagoon.
A few students, however, decided to engage in other activities first and headed for the recreational park in A’famosa Resort. There was a dirt-road track, which provided a challenging and thrilling ride in go-karts. Archery and horse riding were also available.
At 3pm, they departed for a tour of the historical Melaka town. After encountering heavy traffic, they reached the A’Famosa fortress and St. Paul’s Church. They were also at Dataran Pahlawan where the country’s first fire engine, train and airplane were exhibited. These, plus the famous tourist trishaws and various historical settings, provided the students with ample items to photograph.
The group headed back to KL as it threatened to rain, and arrived at around 9pm.
Friendly and helpful teachers
